Andrea Graham is the Podiatrist at ASG Footcare. Qualified since 1993 with a BSc (hons) in Podiatric Medicine, Andrea has extensive experience of treating a wide range of chiropody and podiatric problems in clients ranging from children to the elderly, within the NHS and Private Practice.
Andrea has been a lecturer in Podiatry at the University of Salford, School of Health Sciences since 2005, currently on a part-time basis, obtaining post-graduate qualifications in Podiatry (MSc), teaching and higher education research (PG Cert). She is currently undertaking a PhD by Published Work within the subject of Patient Education. Her specialist research area at the University is within Rheumatological Diseases, with a focus upon Rheumatoid Arthritis and how it can affect the feet. Recently Andrea has collaborated with the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) and fellow Podiatry colleagues, to develop the foot health information section of the NRAS website. A chiropodist or podiatrist is a highly trained professional in all aspects of lower limb and foot assessment & care, ranging from simple toenail cutting and hard skin removal, to the management of more complex conditions that require comprehensive, detailed assessment such as sports injuries.
A chiropodist or podiatrist must be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) a UK wide regulatory body that ensures that the Podiatrist/ Chiropodist has met the stringent criteria required to pass a full time degree in Podiatry. Many will be members of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (www.feetforlife.org). These organisations provide Standards of Professional Practice and a code of conduct that members must adhere to ensuring the highest standards of care for the people that they treat.
